The Return, Xplor Spot Offer E-Commerce Return Option

New alliance turns dry cleaners into return hubs for extra income

HOUSTON — Reverse logistics facilitator The Return and drycleaning software provider Xplor Spot have entered into a strategic partnership that will allow local dry cleaners to become return hubs for retail brands and online shoppers.

The companies say that this new partnership will empower dry cleaners to leverage The Return’s management logistics network embedded within Xplor Spot’s business management platform, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for managing e-commerce returns and facilitating re-commerce.

“As e-commerce continues to grow, effective reverse logistics have become crucial for retailers looking to optimize returns, enhance customer satisfaction and promote sustainable practices,” the companies say in their joint announcement. “Additionally, as the drycleaning industry faces shifting consumer habits, labor shortages and rising costs, this partnership offers a timely and innovative solution: enabling dry cleaners to generate new income by participating in the fast-growing reverse logistics and re-commerce economy.”

Benefits for dry cleaners, the companies say, include technology integration via Xplor Spot’s business management software and new income opportunities from accepting, processing and preparing e-commerce returns without disrupting their core operations. Benefits to online retailers include more sustainable re-commerce practices, new options for customer returns and better data for more informed decisions.

“We are excited to join forces with Xplor Spot and a growing network of leading dry cleaners to address the challenges of reverse logistics in the e-commerce sector,” says Brian Adams, co-founder of The Return. “This partnership signifies our commitment to providing innovative solutions that not only improve operational efficiencies but also promote sustainability in the retail industry.”

“Dry cleaners are trusted local businesses with physical infrastructure and customer relationships — making them ideal partners for facilitating e-commerce returns,” says Nicole Kirby, general manager of Xplor Spot. “This partnership helps them unlock a new revenue stream for their business while delivering consumer convenience and sustainability options for online retailers.”

Rollout of the new return service is underway across select locations. The companies say that more than 450 dry cleaners are already using the service to allow consumers to return retail items.
